Objectives
Objectives
  • Evaluate the entire interface and user flow to identify both major and minor usability issues in the design.

  • Determine the impact level of these issues and propose solutions for UX and UI improvements.

  • Ensure the interface is intuitive and user-friendly.

Identified Issues
Identified Issues

Number 1

Limited Display Space Due to Fixed UI Elements

  • The top navigation bar takes up 35% of the screen height, while the bottom menu occupies 15%.

  • Both are sticky elements, meaning they remain fixed when scrolling.

  • This reduces the available content display area, making only a small portion of content visible at a time.

  • On larger screens, only the promoted section and part of the trending section are visible, and the issue is worse on smaller screens.

  • Impact: Limits content browsing, making it harder for users to scan and discover new Dapps.

Overly Complex and Bulky Filter Controls

  • Dapp Categories + Chain Filters create friction in navigation.

  • Users start with all chains, but once they select a specific chain, they must manually remove the filter—this behavior is inconsistent with the Dapp Category filter.

  • With 100+ supported chains, the horizontal scroll layout lacks a search function, making it frustrating for users to find what they need.

Interaction issues

  • Small filter elements with tight spacing → prone to misclicks.

  • No compact version of the filter while scrolling → when users scroll, they likely want to explore, but the large filter remains intrusive.

Recommendations

  • Redesign the Top Control Bar for Dapp Browser to maximize content visibility and improve browsing fluidity.

  • Enhance Filter Features

    • Make it easier to locate specific chains.

    • Introduce an “All Chains” option for better filtering.

    • Explore merging the two filter types into a unified control.

  • Adaptive UI for Scrolling

    • Implement a shrink/expand mechanism for the control bar so that it collapses when users scroll to browse content.

Severity: High

These issues significantly impact usability, content discovery, and navigation, requiring immediate attention.

Number 2

1st Section: Cherry-Picked Dapps

  • Curated by the internal business team for Dapp promotion.

  • No section label → Users may not understand its purpose.

  • Scattered information layout:

  • Supported chains are displayed separately from the Dapp's main details.

  • CTA button alignment feels off.

  • Dapp cards blend into the background → Lack of visual distinction makes them less noticeable.

Recommendations

  • Add a Section Label

    • Suggested options: “Top Picks” or “Editor’s Picks” for better clarity.

  • Redesign the Dapp Card

    • Improve information hierarchy so users can quickly grasp key details.

    • Adjust card background color to create contrast with the app background.

Severity: Medium

These issues affect clarity and usability but do not critically block user interactions.

Number 3

Trending Dapp Section

  • A visually appealing auto-scrolling row of Dapps.

  • Lack of information → Users, especially new ones, struggle to understand why these Dapps are trending.

  • Unexpected interaction behavior → Users may expect tapping a specific Dapp icon to open that Dapp, but instead, it triggers a full-screen popover of the entire trending section, leading to confusion.

Dapp details are constrained

  • Descriptions are limited to one line, competing for space with icons and CTA buttons.

  • This may make the section feel less engaging or informative.

Recommendations

  • Redesign the Trending Dapp Section

    • Improve usability, visibility, and provide more context on why each Dapp is trending.

    • Consider a layout that balances visuals with essential details without overwhelming users.

Severity: Medium

While the current design is visually appealing, it lacks clarity and predictable interactions, which may reduce user engagement.

Number 4

Popular Dapp Section

  • Users may confuse Trending and Popular sections due to their similarities.

  • The large Dapp icons take up significant screen space, offering a similar experience to the Trending section (leading users to a full-screen popover).

  • Lack of context → No clear indication of why these Dapps are labeled as "Popular" or what criteria determine their ranking.

Recommendations

  • Clarify the purpose and positioning of the Popular section

    • Determine the best placement for this section to differentiate it from Trending.

    • Redefine its purpose and explore new ways to present these Dapps effectively.

Severity: Medium

Without clear distinctions and purpose, the section may cause confusion and reduce its impact on user engagement.

Number 5

Dapp Categories

  • Dapp descriptions are restricted to a single row, making it difficult for users to grasp key details.

  • Repetitive "Open" call-to-action (CTA) reduces clarity and usability.

  • No indication of supported chains, which limits users' ability to assess compatibility at a glance.

Recommendation

  • Refine the UI to enhance information visibility

    • Expand or optimize the description display for better readability.

    • Improve CTA placement and clarity.

    • Include chain support details to help users quickly evaluate the Dapp.

Severity: Low

While not critical, these issues impact usability and could lead to a less engaging user experience.

Conclusion
Conclusion

After conducting usability research, we identified five key issues that directly impact the user experience. These issues were prioritized for resolution. Most of the existing problems stem from small experience details that have a significant effect on users.
